Warm Bodies: Love In A Time of Zombies

For Spooktober Day 9, I watch as the dead rise and fall prey to the greatest infection of all times, the love song. Warm Bodies, based on the 2010 novel of the same name by Isaac Marion, is a classic Romeo and Juliet story. In this version, Romeo is a brain-eating Zombie instead of a dirty Montague. R (Nicholas Hoult) is a Zombie who wishes for something more than his undead life and all his dreams come true when he saves Julie (Teresa Palmer) from a hoard of his friends.

How does this story have to do with love songs? In the film, the directors use some classic love songs to add a bit of humor and to show R’s emotions to the storyline. The soundtrack is a who's who of the 70s and 80s’ artists including Bob Dylan, The Nationals, and Fiest.

My top 5 love songs used during the movie:

  1. Patience by Guns N’ Roses

  2. Hungry Heart by Bruce Springsteen

  3. Missing You by John Waite

  4. Rock You Like a Hurricane by Scorpions

  5. Oh Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison
