February Romance Movie Challenge

IMG_7940.jpg

For the past two years, I have annually spent the first 14 days of February watching or rewatching romantic movies.

As a complete romantic, I am obsessed with love in all forms and a movie is one of the best vessels for it. Besides a book of course! But with a movie, the happily ever after can be packed into less than two hours. The roller coaster ride of will they or won’t they is one that I will happily take at any time.

Some of my all-time favorites include anything by John Hughes (you can take the girl out of the 80’s but you can’t take the eighties out of the girl) but fight me because I believe Some Kind of Wonderful is his best movie! I wouldn’t say it is my favorite romantic movie ever or even most romantic from the 80’s (that’s reserved for Valley Girl in my book) but I like how he flips the script with Watts and Keith. Their friends to lovers story is rot with conflict but ends with a classic kissing scene. Makes my heart melt every time I see it.

More modern romantic movies I’ve watched and loved include Crazy Rich Asians, The Big Sick, Five Feet Apart, and Sylvie’s Love. Basically, I will watch anything with love as the main theme including a rom-com, musical, drama, or anything that makes me ugly cry at the end.

What’s your go-to romantic movie for a Valentine’s Day night in?
