Spooktober ‘21

Every year starting October 1st, I embark on a month-long Halloween movie marathon watching 31 daily, spooky, and fun Halloween-inspired movies. I don’t do scary, I’m more Freeform channel than Shudder. For me, Halloween is about celebrating the supernatural without having to sleep with the lights on.

Last year, I did theme weeks but for 2021 I decided to explore every category of monster. Some of the movies will be old standards like Hocus Pocus, Practical Magic, Lost Boys, and my yearly Twilight marathon but others will be new to me movies including a few horror classics like The Birds and Misery which I’ve never seen.

Like last year, I’ll be posting to Instagram the “Spooktober Movie of the Day” but new for this year, I’ll be also doing a daily blog. These blogs won’t just be a summary, instead, I will vary the topics from my thoughts about the soundtrack, top 10 movie moments, top 5 jump scares, movie and dinner pairs and so much more! I’ve also invited two author friends to guest blog with their insights and favorite movies for the season.

I invite you to join me for Spooktober! I’d love to hear your thoughts about the movie I watched. Heck, you might even want to watch with me or create your own movie marathon. No matter what you decide, I’d love for you to leave a comment on my daily blogs. Also, If you don’t already, follow me on Instagram for additional Spooktober content!
