Vampire Hunt but Make it Presidential

Based on a 2010 novel by the same name, my Spooktober Day 5 movie was Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. With the screenplay, written by book author Seth Grahame-Smith in hand, producers, Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov, the film’s director, set out to bring the popular book to life on the big screen. Seth Grahame-Smith is also the author of another popular horror fiction mashup, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which was made into a movie in 2016.

Like most book-to-movie adaptations, many fans were not pleased with the changes made to the movie, especially the ending. (You won’t find any spoilers on this page, so if you want to know what happens, I suggest you read the book and then watch the movie or Google it for yourself.)

It was my first time watching the movie, so I fell prey to the jump-scare first-reveal of the vampires but found most of the movie to be on the mild side. With the movie not on the too gory or scary side, I think it would be perfect for a family with tweens or teen kids to watch together. I’m disappointed I didn’t see it when it was first released back in June of 2012.

As for the premise of the historical accuracy of the book and movie, I can’t say because I’ve never been a history buff. So after the movie, I looked up some more information about Lincoln and found that a lot of the facts, other than him being a vampire hunter, were true to his life story.

Note: There is no historical evidence that Lincoln was ever a vampire hunter. But it is your prerogative to wonder what if.
